Metro Aviation is honored to work with employees who show not only a commitment to the company, but also dedication to the advancement of the helicopter industry. Recently several of Helicopter Association International’s (HAI) committees met in Alexandria, Virginia for working sessions. During that time, two of Metro’s employees accepted seats at the table.
Director of Training, Terry Palmer, has been on HAI’s Flight Training Committee for more than a year, and will now lead the committee as Chairman. The committee changed its name from the Flight Training Committee to Training Committee to reflect a broader mission and to include maintenance and non-flying crewmembers. The Training Committee’s goal is to enhance safety and quality in training. The Committee makes recommendations on existing and proposed rules, regulations, policies, and initiatives that affect helicopter training. In addition, the Committee monitors technology advancements as they apply to flight training and the helicopter community.
Palmer has also served on the Safety Committee for the past seven years and now Metro’s Director of Safety, Tarek Loutfy, has accepted a position on this committee as well. The primary objective of the Safety Committee is to improve hazard and risk identification, assessment and mitigation, with the result of eliminating accidents and fatalities in the helicopter industry. The Committee seeks to advise and educate the helicopter industry on safety issues.
Metro Aviation congratulates Terry Palmer and Tarek Loutfy for their dedication to their company and the helicopter industry.
