Metro Aviation will welcome a new operations customer in November. Metro and Cooper University Health Care are partnering to launch a new air medical service throughout seven counties of southern New Jersey.
“Cooper Air Med is a crucial part of Cooper’s emergency medical services continuum,” said Steven E. Ross, MD, FACS, FCCM, Vice Chairman, Department of Surgery and Division Head Trauma Services at Cooper. “As the only Level 1 state-designated Trauma Center in South Jersey, Cooper understands the importance of having immediate care provided to the most critically injured or ill patients in the least amount of time.”
Metro’s completions center in Shreveport, Louisiana will complete an EC135 T2+ for Cooper Air Med. The new service will offer critically rapid transport from emergency scenes, as well as inter-facility transfers. Metro is a Part 135 Air Carrier and follows a traditional air medical business model, operating for several hospital programs across the U.S. Cooper University Health Care is the 34th operations program for the industry leader.
“Metro and Cooper share the same values of quality and customer service,” said Metro Aviation President Mike Stanberry. “I believe this is the beginning of a long relationship and am looking forward to working with such a forward-thinking team.”
In 2014, Cooper treated more than 83,000 patients through its Emergency Department and nearly 3,000 patients through the Trauma Center. In addition, Cooper operates three urgent care centers in Cherry Hill, Audubon and Sicklerville.
